Cyphophoenix elegans-with stripes

I’ve never noticed this before but my cyphokentia elegans shed a leaf today and I notice the crown shaft had stripes similarly to that of a Burretiokentia vieillardii. Anyone else notice this about Cyphophoenix elegans

Nice looking specimen.  I have not noticed it, but then again, all 3 of mine are smaller with only a couple getting anywhere near showing any ringed trunk (it will likely be another full year or two).  I will however check to see if there are any signs of similar markings on mine tomorrow before it gets too hot.

Yes, when I looked at all three, even the small one I could see the striping you show on your nice trunking specimen.  I think as they get larger it becomes more apparent.  With the smaller ones the retained leaf sheaths tend to be more weathered so when they form trunk they look cleaner and start self shedding so you can really see the striping.  It is a beautiful palm, truly "elegant"!

Leaf bases on mine are still retained, especially on the one that is easiest to photograph (below).  It makes it hard to show the striping that you showed above but if I get down on my hands and knees and look closely above the old retained leaf base, its quite apparent.  This is the smallest of the three I'm growing and the only one that isn't obscured by other objects when trying to photograph.

Like some of my other New Caledonia palms, they seem to grow well right through winter.

Tried to get in closer with another one, just a hint of the tiger striping at the top, but without a clean crownshaft like the original one posted, you can't get the full effect.
