Very nice. I’m envious of you guys who have hillsides to your property. It gives such a great extra dynamic to a garden.

I’m flat. :(

Matty, that Ravenea xerophila looks fantastic and really goes well with the companion plants.  I tried a little one and lost it to skunks digging around its roots.  How long to get to that size and what size did you plant it?  It's a palm I would consider trying again if I can find a place to squeeze it in and give it the sun it needs.

Is this Dypsis setting viable seed for you?  Specatular Dypsis specimen by the way!

Tracy, I'd say the R. xeriophila is about 8 years old from a 2 gallon.  I have five of them scattered around because I love them so much.

These are the first two flowers for my Dypsis prestoniana, so I'm not sure if it'll set viable seed, but Gary's sets tons of viable seed so I assume mine will too.

Oh man, I love the cactus. Being able to combine them with unique palms really emphasizes location and sense of place. So exotic, great job.

My Dypsis prestoniana just dropped a ton of little yellow flowers the first couple of times it pushed out inflorescence, but I'm seeing something different this time around.  I'm not sure if these little guys are full size and shortly drop off or will continue growing.  Unless you have any thoughts, I guess I'll just wait and see what happens.  And if you ever get tired of any of those Ravenea xerophila which you have so many of, I know a place in Leucadia that would welcome one!  Maybe I'll try to find another small one and try again, as that looks like pretty good growth in 8 years for a palm that has a reputation of growing as slow as cycads.

Looks like the beginning of a good fruit set on that D.  prestoniana.  I just noticed tons of bees on my huge flower this morning, so I'm sure I'm getting good pollination.

Matty, Dana saw this on San Diego gardener and asked me what species this Aroid is and I don't know.  She likes the really elongated heart shape leaves.  Please provide an ID so I can let her know.  Thanks!

Sorry I didn't consolidate my id requests Matty, but which Pritchardia is this?  It looks a lot like the one I got a few years back from Ed Green as Pritchardia flynnii.

Tracy, that Philodendron is some one off hybrid from Rudy Lasoga formerly Palms Nursery here in Spring Valley from many decades ago.  The old property is just a couple houses down from my place and when the family sold the house they told my now deceased neighbor Bob Hastings that he could take anything that was there.  Well, there wasn't much but this Philodendron was out in the sun and was obviously a really hardy plant.  So Bob gave it to me.

That Pritchardia is the Ron Lawyer viscosa, which isn't viscosa.  I think Matt P told me he thinks it's P. uhhhh, crap I forgot.  perlmanii or napaliensis maybe.  Ask Matt.

When the north pacific turns back on, I'll  be seeing you guys again and will ask him which species.  That Pritchardia is a beauty and it doesn't seem to take up much space.  I'll let Dana know on the Philodendron, she really liked it.  I have a couple of different ones grown from cuttings that I received from Jeff Brusseau in 2016 after the Palm Society meeting at his home, but yours has those much more elongated leaves.
