Hurricane Douglas

I've been here on O`ahu since Nov. '63 and have seen 2 hurricanes affect O`ahu.  This looks like the first that might run across the island.  OUCH.

But if you study the 4 photos below you'll notice a slight northward movement w/in the west northwest movement.  With luck it will pass on the windward side of O`ahu.

Still waiting to see the 11 am track from this morning.

Right now I think Maui is going to get the worst of it.  Hoping 10,000 ft Haleakala breaks it up somehow.

Yeah , definitely take it serious. I’ve been through Hurricanes Rita, Ike, and Harvey, Tropical storm Allison(flooded nearly as bad as Harvey) along with several other recent flooding events here in Houston. Each situation was different, plan for the worst.

Stay safe out there on the islands!  Hopefully just some rain and no damage.

Hurricane Warning in effect now for Oahu! Douglas is expected to pass over or just north of the islands, but the northern islands look to take the worst. Make your final preparations now!

Big Island guys and gals.  How did you do now that the center of storm is past you?

Maui people batten down the hatches.

Here on O`ahu I've placed cement blocks on things like rubbish cans after tying them together.  Taped the sliding glass doors and hopefully I got all the small crap on the ground where it can't do damage.  I hope the cement blocks on the trash cans don't go flying and hit the car or truck.  LOL

Pretty much a non event on most o the islands.  Rain just picking up about 745 pm.  Up till then only like .2" fell..  No strong winds on the West side.  Hope Karishnarao on the East coast doing OK

I'm just going to post this here. Hope everyone on the Islands are safe and that this hurricane passes quickly with minimal damage! As a former resident of Oahu, I have deep and fond memories of the time I spent living, working and gardening there!

Never put tape on windows, all it will do is make the pieces bigger!

I wasn’t home but apparently very minimal wind and rain, turned into a non event luckily!
