Canary Leaf Opening

Wondering if it is normal for my canary palm to open its leaves very slow.  I don't know much about palms yet.

This was taken Saturday morning:

And this was taken about 10 minutes ago:

That leaf that is opening pretty much looks the same in both pictures.  Is that normal?  When my Phoenix dactylifera opens a new leaf, it takes about 4 days from the first sign of opening until it is fully opened.

This is normal. I noticed they tend to do this especially after planting. Was it recently planted? It might be focusing on putting roots out. I find it normal for them to 'stale', but once it gets going there's no stopping it!

Yes sir, it was probably planted about three weeks ago.  This would make sense.  I didn't disturb the root ball - just dropped the box it was planted in into the ground, ripped the sides off, massaged the dirt a little and backfilled with the native soil.  It's a silty type of soil with some clay composition but drains well.

Seems like your soils similar to mine. I bet it'll start thriving soon!

I planted my canary last year. It was in a 24" box, pretty big & heavy. Anyways I disturbed the roots quite a bit. I struggled alot since I did it by myself & it hasn't grown in a year! Its still green though. I got back from work yesterday & I think it has actually started to grow! I'm going to mark it make sure. If I know anything about canary's is that they sure know how to throw a tantrum when their roots are disturbed

Update to this... The CIDP un-paused its growth, opened a frond and is now opening another, all in about a week.

Update to this.  It didn’t really stop growing all winter.  We’ve been in the upper 70s - low 80s on and off for a week or two now.  Opened a whole new frond in that time.  Fastest palm I have so far and it’s not even close.
