This morning I took photos of our Attalea butyracea, which after 10-11 years in the ground is still a fountain of 20' leaves and no sign of a trunk. If you have the climate and space for an Attalea, get one. They are awesome palms.

Thanks, Pastor Randy. We are doing okay. His bloodwork has actually improved. I started monthly injections for chronic migraines. I hope you and Theresa are doing well in St. Pete.

Would love to see the other 3 especially the Cohune. Ever since I saw A.Cohune at the Kaui botanical garden I am just in awe of these palms , so prehistoric looking =)

Beautiful palm Meg. Funny your comment about Atattleas in general. My neighbor has a recently cleared area that's exposed to the elements and I have a small A. colenda that I'm encouraging him to plant there. Do Attaleas do reasonably well in full sun early on?  Thanks for sharing.

I believe they do. I planted mine in full sun while they were still very small. I don't believe they do well in pots past an early age because their growing points stay below ground for many years.

I have been seeking non-trunking Attalea spp for a long time without success. I love the look of those fountains of leaves.
