Does anyone know a legitimate/authentic source of washingtonia filibusta seeds.  Not sure some of the online sources are genuine.  I know RPS has them for sale but I think they have a minimum purchase.  All suggestions appreciated, thanks.

I have one that flowers & seeds every year. A robusta next to it died in the 2018 freeze. It is pushing flower stalks now.

Hi Todd,

If you have excess seeds this time around I would love to get some, I have tried pure filifera and the humidity just proves to be too much here in the south and they rot, even if on a raised bed with good drainage. So I think the combination of a little bit more cold hardiness and humidity tolerance would prove to be the best of both worlds.

The Filibusta with stump head next to it. I need to take the robusta down, but it's leaning towards my driveway & don't want to crack the driveway.

Hi George,

Thank you so much for the info, I clearly have never heard of these guys, they have indeed an excellent selection and very reasonably priced.

Hi George,

Quick question they say wholesale only, is this the case or do they not verify, appreciate your experience, thanks.

Maybe someone here knows.... if you see Washingtonia Filibusta, how you can tell it apart from either of it's cousins. If one has filibusta, how could they tell it apart from either of the other species? If you think you have Washingtonia Filibusta on your property, how do you know you have this species and not something else?

Robusta have almost no thread fiber on the leaves & thin trunks with a small crown. Filifera have many thread fibers on their leaves and fat trunks. The hybrid is in between & had more dived leaves.

After seeing thousands of mature washies, you just know by guageing the trunk thickness. ( thin, thick,or somewhere in between )

8B Palms:

The quantities listed on their price chart are minimum amounts;  some you can order a hundred, and some a thousand seed minimum. I just ordered some filifera and P. canariensis seeds from them last week. /howfam
