Queen Palm Roots

Recommended Posts

My queen palms are doing fantastic up here! So good that the roots are growing into the mulch. I discovered this today as i am preparing to fertilize this afternoon, its been about 3 months. What does this mean and how could i stop it or help it? I have some extra top soil that i can put on top if need be. I tugged on these roots to see if it wasnt just weeds and they didnt move, but i dont think they would be yellowish brown color if it was weeds.

if you put soil on top the roots will just go even higher. Just mulch and don't worry about them.

@redant

Should i fertilize on top of the mulch instead of on the ground? Im afraid it will burn the roots.
