This is an excellent palm for the Houston area. It was the fastest growing tree in my garden, and one of the nicest to look at.

Many of those Australian Livistona are very hardy to the cold, and take high heat well, too.

I just planted this one here on Saturday and 2 larger ones in the RGV yesterday!  It's been 107 degrees the past 4 days so no problem with the heat!

I've got one in my backyard, right next to the Nude Skydiver Palm (Acrocomia) and it's an easy 20 feet tall.

Yes, it's one acre in a quiet rural area away from all of the high growth but only about 15 minutes away from commercial shopping and probably 20 minutes away from S. Padre.

Joseph, you're timing it well with the temps down a bit this week!  Barely hitting 90° tomorrow but you will probably see some rain.  BTW, the decora I planted here just started pushing new spears again this past weekend.  :)

I saw the ones planted on I45 south Of Downtown Houston. They look great planted as triples they have that leaning coconut trunk look. 

Current Texas Gardening Zone 9a, Mean (1999-2024): 22F Low/104F High. Yearly Precipitation 39.17 inches.

Extremes: Low Min 4F 2021, 13.8F 2024. High Max 112F 2011/2023, Precipitation Max 58 inches 2015, Lowest 19 Inches 2011.
