From the leaf shape, I am more inclined towards E. Turnerii as an ID

Hence; what is mine which I thought was E. sclavoi, which does NOT exhibit the pronounced leaf petal spooning that yours and Ian's does?

There are a lot of similarities between E sclavoi and E turneri, but all turneri have that distinctive cupped "boat shape" leaflet.  I have a couple of different forms of E sclavoi (first two photos).  E. turneri also has a couple of forms.

Richard, yours could be a sclavoi as well.  Can you provide a photo of the caudex and another of the entire plant.  Looks like it has reverted to the leaflets showing some armor on that latest flush while the older flush seemed like the leaflets only had a terminal barb.

It's a bit difficult getting good pics, without bleeding to death, as the mother plant as well as some of it's pups are in the throws of flushing. Here is a caudex shot as well as a close of the stems, and a full

Hey thanks guys  thats great .  A week after I posted I dug up another and found a tag  . This one  is smaller and similar but without spines on the lower stems. I guess there are variations

 Cheers  Ian
