After a year or two hiatus my big Trithrinax acanthacoma aka brasilinebsis aka Spinal Tap Palm, is looking to make babies again.

A while back I gave away a bunch of seeds; anyone have any luck getting them to grow? If so show us!

And show us your own nifty Trithrinax!

I am down to 5 of these now... tried planting a couple last year but something ate them.  But, they are coming along slowly.

Same here.  I experimented with planting one in the ground 2 years ago and it appears to be at roughly the same stage as the ones I left in containers.  All are doing well and on the verge of going palmate with 7-8 strap leaves.  The first is planted in mostly full sun while those in containers are behind shade cloth on my covered back patio.

  • 1 month later...

Planted this finally last year and it has taken my PNW weather of rain and a week of freezing snowy temperatures nicely! This 1 of 3 remaining survivors. Thanks Dave once again :)
