Is It Possible to Dwarf a Serenoa repens?

I've acquired a Serenoa repens in a 1gallon pot that has been grown hard and is somewhat dwarfed.

Has anyone ever tried keeping one small by root pruning/ container size  restriction?

Curious also, do you have a pic of the stunted one you have?

I believe @Pal Meir has successfully grown a bonsai Chamaerops humilis in the past so I would think that a Serenoa would be a similar project.

I worry that even with root pruning, the underground stem will keep thickening, eventually forcing selection of a bigger pot.

I find them as slowest growing palms for me. Have few seedlings in strap leave stage for 2-3 years in my Mediterranean climate. Any tips to push them a bit?
