Hi Nikita,

Welcome to PalmTalk.  I am not a Sabal expert, but we have many Sabal experts here, and hopefully one will comment.  Based on the large size of that palm, I think it probably is S. causiarium, S. domingensis, or S. maritima, which are closely related.

Welcome to Palmtalk Nikita. That's a nice palm. Do you know the average minimum temperatures from Sochi Arboretum? What other palms do they have there?

Hello SteliosSochi is mainly located in zone 9a. But this year minimal temperature was -7C(19,4F). Average minimal temperature is around -4C(24,8F). Here is in Sochi Arboterum a lot of different type of palm trees. Mainly it is regular (for us) Trachycarpus fortunei. But also we have Trachycarpus martianus, Washingtonia filifera and robusta, Butia capitata and odorata, Phoenix canariensis, sylvestris , Sabal minor and palmetto, Brahea armata, Chamaerops humilis , Jubaea chilensis, livistona chinensis and this unidentified Sabal.

There could be others, like chamaerops cerifera and rhapidophyllum hystrix. As for the unidentified sabal maybe somebody working at the arboretum might have a record of it. Keep us posted.

This sabal is named "bahamensis",but I didn't find anything about that. I only found on Wikipedia that "sabal bahamensis" is synonym of palmetto. But it doesn't look like palmetto...

It's likely a Sabal palmetto. They can be variable. Especially if this palm is sourced from the Bahamas. Specific islands there may have some unique morphotypes.
