Annona cherimola? Sweet creamy delicious fruit

Neighbor has this fruit currently ripe. I've tasted it other years and he gave me a part of a fruit the other day. Really tasty! Anyway, he calls it "Costa Apple" but he's also called Annona squamosa "Costa Apple" so he doesn't really know the correct common names. He doesn't speak English fluently never mind know Latin names of plants and I don't speak Creole.  Any fruit tree experts here? Can't get a pic of the tree really because it's entangled with everything else in his jungle but here's a pic of another fruit still on the tree. He only gets a couple fruit each year.

Annona cherimola is Cherimoya.  Think that's what this one is..

A. squamosa is often commonly referred to as Sugar or Custard Apple. Same family. Fl. native Annona glabra ( Pond Apple ) is also in the Annona family as well. Fruits are a little different ( Cherimoya fruit tend to be smoother skinned than Sugar Apple ). Not a huge fan of them myself but really nice looking trees.

Latin name is correct.

Thanks for the confirmation. He's got a LOT of fruit trees and it's always a project figuring out what the correct ID is because he'll use translated common names from other countries. He had several of these trees and sold all the other mature ones so I've gotta do some grafting onto root stock for him.

He would get a lot more fruit if he took the time to hand pollinate the flowers. Its not difficult, just a little time consuming. Plenty of instructions on how to do this on You Tube.
