Some photos of C. tepejilote in habitat (Nicaragua). sorry for the bad quality of the photos in the dark jungle.

They even grow on top of rocks with almost no soil.

Here is my sunburned C. microspadix, given to me by Darold Petty, as a seedling, about ten years ago, I think.

I think your "metallica" is an ernsti-augusti. At least it's what' seems to be written on the plaque.

All pics in this post are Chamaedorea cataractarum. First pic is a fairly old specimen I collect seed from. Trunking and sections falling over with age/weight. Landscape maintenance people for the building hack off the sections that lay down for aesthetics, like the section on the left side in this pic as it's located on a commercial property. Following pics are a couple specimens from my container ranch sprouting suckers. Seed 1/2 dried and dry in the last pic.

Jim,  your C. unknown might be C. carchensis (benziei) ??

Darold, Here are a few more pics of this Chamaedorea. Notice the very thin and curled leaflets. My C. benzii has wider leaflets and larger fruit that ripens to black. The tiny fruit on this palm ripen to bronze. What do you think?

Forgot to mention, no rain to speak of for the last 12 months so plants struggling somewhat. Water restrictions at highest ever no watering at all. Fortunately over the last few decades I have worked the garden, good soil and plenty of mulch to keep the ground cool. Still hoping for rain, lots of it before winter.
