Pulled Gigas and Planted ......

Briank

Recommended Posts

So I finally Did it.   Yet I still have 1 more to go!  Had to do it before it got any bigger.

Planted 15ga Gigas like 4 yrs ago, was taking off.   Have another I have to pull.

Picked up a Jubaea X Butia in 20ga Size and figure soil was damp with recent Rains might as well get to shoveling.   Don’t have tons of pics but there’s a previous post that shows how big the Gigas got.

I have a Jubaea x Syragus I was gonna plant there but it’s in 15 ga size gonna plant that when I pull the other Gigas.  This was big hole so saved me from having to dig lol.

Yea Baloo always knows when the camera and fresh dirt is so he can get in pic.

@Briank, your doggy looks lovable!

Hate to say this, but I think your transplanted C. gigas will bloom and die prematurely. I hope I'm wrong, but I've not seen much good from moving single-trunked monocarpic palms.

That thing is good as gone.   Which is fine with me.  Wasn’t really thinking when I planted.  Still have another to pull.  I got a Jubea x Syagrus and a Mule Palm to plant out and the Judge n Jury said to pull the Monocarpic palm that will be a bitch to cut down later.

Baloo is A lovable yet most Intimidating Shepherd.   You want to be on his good side.  He likes to make his pressence known lol.  But is also the biggest Bed Hog.   He’s 137 lbs.  big boy.

Fortunately I planted mine far from the house. I like it. Yes, it's really a giant!
