Happy new year all! Came across this P. canariensis near Fair Park in Dallas. It is located near an abandoned warehouse and appears neglected. Seems to be very healthy! An interesting find...C57010F6-E675-4841-B22A-ECF9F8060314.thumb.jpeg.562347d70f4f28c339914e1a95d0b28e.jpegB5A65600-AE6B-4FF5-B87A-E400E1656B3E.thumb.jpeg.608cdead73f06b476116541f56298954.jpeg

Not too shabby for being left to its own devices.  Could use a little bit of fertilizer for the minor nutrient deficiency, but overall a wonderful palm!

Here’s an update from today! In the last month or so, it has been pruned up and looks very elegant...December 20, 2020867A508A-8C21-4250-BC56-BB2E7306372D.thumb.jpeg.1ea1d073c568e2b73254cf153dbc5e29.jpeg

There is a smaller daye family tree on Irving Ave in between Turtle Creek Blvd and Oak Lawn. Ive seen a couple phoenix types with the huge colorful spikes planted around the M streets in residential areas too @ fairly good size.

Nice to see!

Hope they winterized it for the freeze, would have loved to get seed from that palm, but I don't think that is possible now...:violin:

Nothing to say here.

May be an image of palm trees and outdoors

Absolutely thrilled to see this! I was in town earlier this week and had a chance to swing by and check it out, expecting the worst...imagine my surprise to see this! August 16, 2021

Would someone wiser than me explain, are all those green fronds post-freeze growth?

I was wondering about this palm...I was afraid to ask...but it is wonderful to see it survived! Collect the seeds and spread them in the area for sure! Hopefully someone can toss some slow release fertilizer around it to help it recover.

It’s been there for years, there used to be another one there.  The one in the picture grew rt out of the 2011 freeze also.
