THE UPPER HIGH IS EXPECTED TO STRENGTHEN AND EXPAND WESTWARD INTO CALIFORNIA NEXT WEEK...CAUSING HEAT TO BUILD MONDAY AND TUESDAY...WITH THE PEAK OF THE HEAT ON THE INDEPENDENCE DAY HOLIDAY WEDNESDAY...AND ON THURSDAY. HIGH TEMPERATURES TODAY AND SUNDAY WILL RISE INTO THE 90S IN THE VALLEYS AND AT LOWER ELEVATIONS IN THE MOUNTAINS.. WITH HIGHS BETWEEN 95 AND 103 IN THE ANTELOPE VALLEY. LOCATIONS IN THE HILLS JUST ABOVE THE COASTAL PLAIN...SUCH AS BEVERLY HILLS AND THE HOLLYWOOD HILLS COULD EXPERIENCE TEMPERATURES NEAR 100 DEGREES IF THE MARINE LAYER BECOMES SHALLOW ENOUGH. THESE WARNINGS MAY HAVE TO BE EXTENDED THROUGH MUCH OF NEXT WEEK...AT LEAST IN THE MOUNTAINS. SEE LAXRFWLOX FOR ADDITIONAL DETAILS. Don Little 15 Report post Posted July 1, 2007 (palmotrafficante @ Jul. 01 2007,08:04)QUOTEdon the little % numbers on the side? is that the percent chance of me getting out of the aircon as I am driving thru or what? HOLY COW thats some freakin heat folks!! Tad The percentage numbers are supposedly for chance of precipitation but I'm not buying it, and as for any chance of getting out of the A/C while driving thru, the 0% is about right. That's what I've been dreading also. Don't think I can take another cold spell like that one again.

palmmermaid 14 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 I agree! I will take 90 degrees and 90% humidity over those temps! Jeez, almost enough to boil the blood. Wal, if you read this, I understand there are places in the outback that are so hot, your blood does boil and you die. True?
iwan 207 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 Forcast for Fresno is three days of 107-108 and now they are adding humid to the forcast. Starting to smell like last July. 100+F and humid is brutal (and I am used to tropical heat).
osideterry 83 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 Close to the coast we're still getting the marine layer in the morning. By afternoon I'm feeling warmth mixed with some actual humidity. This is close to ideal for my plants.
epicure3 91 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 It topped out at 83F at my house yesterday. We don't even have air conditioning. Actually, nobody on my street does. Never need it.
elHoagie 275 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 It's been getting into the mid 30's at my place (low 90's F) the past few days. But, the dewpoint has been in the upper teens (low 60's F), so it's really not that dry...
MattyB 2,010 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 I'm finding that the almost constant on shore breeze at my place is keeping the temps down. It's been getting to the high 80's and low 90's down the hill but at my place it hasn't exceeded 84F.
happ 141 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 (iwan @ Jul. 03 2007,10:15)QUOTEForcast for Fresno is three days of 107-108 and now they are adding humid to the forcast. Starting to smell like last July. 100+F and humid is brutal (and I am used to tropical heat). Robert This heat wave is already starting to slow, esp west of the mountains. Coast cities 70s/lo 80's will cool down further as weekend nears. Inland temps have been hot but no records broken. Desert regions seasonably hot: Phoenix : 113F/45c Las Vegas : 111F/43.8c Bullhead City : 118F/47.7c Palm Springs : 112F/44.4c Death Valley : 119F/48.3 Dew points will rise and modify temps. Scattered thundershowers in Arizona soon though too early to detect monsoonal trend. Jack Agree that evening readings have been uncomfortable w/ brief onshore air overnight. My new A/C won't be installed for a few more weeks.
