Silicon for Palms?

Recommended Posts

Was talking with my friends about treating mealybugs and silicon came into the conversation.  I never heard about amending silicon to palms.  Anyway, did a little research and found a study about silicon and oil palms.  pretty interesting.  Sounds like it is worth to add it to the mix.

you do realize that sand is largely silicon, throw sand on your palms to cure mealybugs?  I stick to neem oil or insecticidal soap, they do work.  Silicon should readily be available in your soil I would think.

Formerly in Gilbert AZ, zone 9a/9b. Now in Palmetto, Florida Zone 9b/10a??
