Don’t. I was joking. If I could pick anywhere in the continental US it would be south Florida. I also like that coconuts don’t grow everywhere. If they did they wouldn’t be special.

Lovely photos!  To answer the question, I would generally say in coastal South Florida, yes.  Anywhere else in Florida, not ubiquitous.  Coconuts are common right on the coast from Cocoa Beach south on the East Coast and Clearwater Beach south on the west coast.

That doesn’t work as well as you might think. I tried it once. I cut a hole in the foundation of my house and planted a coconut in the dirt inside my house. After a few years it got so tall I to cut a hole in the roof and the following winter it froze to death. Now I have a hole in my roof, a hole in my floor, and a dead coconut tree in my living room.

You should have picked up a true dwarf coco: Fiji dwarf or red Tahiti dwarf (among other true dwarfs).

5 year high 42.2C/108F (07/06/2018)--5 year low 4.6C/40.3F (1/19/2023)--Lowest recent/current winter: 4.6C/40.3F (1/19/2023)

Are you suggesting I try again? I’ll start cutting, you start germinating one of those super market coconuts.

With a true dwarf, you won't have the need to cut out your 2nd story roof as fast as if you had a semi-dwarf or a tall.

Folks in the UK have a tuff time finding true dwarfs. You have the advantage.

Viel Glück!
