Veitchia Spiralis (Not) seedlings

I have around 12 extra of these that are still small enough to ship. So, these seeds were sent to me by a friend from a tree received as Veitchia Spiralis. Now these seeds are v/large, much larger than the V.arecina seeds I have compared them with. They also are NOT  ‘round’ like Spiralis should be. After doing lots of research, we have concluded these are probably a hybrid. Therefore, I’m not really sure about what they will turn out to be. $2.50 each plus shipping. Keep in mind these are fairly heavy with large seed attached, and it’s too early to remove them.

Any pictures of the parent palm it would be interesting to see how they differ in appearance from California grown to Florida grown trees.i had one with 4ft of trunk before a gopher took it down and it was growing great. It had a very white crownshaft. I am starting over with  a new one.

Charlene, I recently germinated a seed from a palm labeled as Veitchia winin that looks a lot like your seeds.  It does not match seed photos I have seen which are rounder but does match photos from the last two images in Palmpedia for Veitchia spiralis from a guy in Argentina.  Could it just be variation within the species or are you convinced that it is a natural hybrid?

The V. winin seeds I have germinated are much smaller (about 1/2 the size) than even V. arecina,  and tiny compared to the huge V. spiralis seeds I recently germinated. The only other seeds I saw lately that even compared to the seeds I received as Spiralis were a V. johannis infructescence at a friends house, the seeds were v/robust and huge. In fact, it made me wonder if I had a johannis hybrid w/ spiralis, but that's just a guess.

Thanks, I didn't think my seed was V. winin and it looked so similar to yours.  In fact it looked a lot like Carpoxylon but it's growing much slower.  I didn't notice a white crownshaft on the mother palm so I wasn't sure what it was.  I haven't seen pics of huge Veitchia seeds except for the ones on Palmpedia under V. spiralis.  There are photos of round, smaller seeds in that same palm profile.

Here’s 2 V winin on Right, the supposed 2 Spiralis on leftt. Winin’s are much smaller overall. But who knows really with so many hybrids floating around.
