Found these last week along US-71 between Alexandria and Krotz Springs...one can only wonder how old these are!

Here is one of my Sabal Louisiana palms that is about 25 years old. The mama plant was collected as a seed about 40 years ago from the bottom lands of the San Jacinto river about 50 miles NW of Houston.

Sabal Louisianna is one of my favorite species of Sabal.  They are fast growing for a Sabal and I like the bluish color.

They also have very good cold tolerance (especially considering their faster growth).

Likewise...always has been one of my favorites as well! Likely the only (eventually) trunking palm I can plant and forget in my climate...
