Mangosteen

My ten year old, potted, triple Chamaedorea metallica. Bright shady, sheltered location. About 3 feet tall.

Anyone else growing these?

Here in Holland I grow them for many years now in pots, both entire and split leafs.

These are one of my favorites, got several scattered around my yard, ranging from 1 to 4 ft

Wondering why the leaves on mine are so "black" colored compared to others. Shady conditions?

Mine are fairly black as well. They're in very bright light but with a little afternoon sun more recently. They lost some of the canopy a couple of years ago and the replacement is a bit slow growing.

I always have a handful of these guys in the plant house - they are also often flowering throughout the year.

A liitle bit smaller, as hydroponics & in potting mix:

I bought these in the mid 1980’s and have since moved then through a number of pot sizes. Until they reside, together in this pot. Bright shade, occasionally feeding and regular watering. I live in Victoria Aus near the coast

Hi,

I bought these probably three years ago at our HD and planted them soon out

in a bride shade and wind protected spot.

Completely trouble-free and steady growers since then - a beautiful species!

I am glad that I could get a hand on them. Never seen a similar offer after that at our HD.

Best regards from Okinawa and @AnnU :

Welcome to Palmtalk! :)
