Chamaedorea metallica

My ten year old, potted, triple Chamaedorea metallica. Bright shady, sheltered location. About 3 feet tall.

Anyone else growing these?

Wondering why the leaves on mine are so "black" colored compared to others. Shady conditions?

Mine are fairly black as well. They're in very bright light but with a little afternoon sun more recently. They lost some of the canopy a couple of years ago and the replacement is a bit slow growing.

I bought these in the mid 1980’s and have since moved then through a number of pot sizes. Until they reside, together in this pot. Bright shade, occasionally feeding and regular watering. I live in Victoria Aus near the coast

Hi,

I bought these probably three years ago at our HD and planted them soon out

in a bride shade and wind protected spot.

Completely trouble-free and steady growers since then - a beautiful species!

I am glad that I could get a hand on them. Never seen a similar offer after that at our HD.

Best regards from Okinawa and @AnnU :

Welcome to Palmtalk! :)
