Dear Paul  :)

i have a question for you,the place you stayed is it a guest bungalow or a hotel, why iam asking this is the place looks

like a palace of an asian king or ruler.the cots, the painting,

the mottifs all look different for a normal hotel ?

and no reception counter at all ? no new guest along with you

living in that beautiful place...

on first time seeing that place reminded me of the song by

Eagles_Hotel California. have you heared it !

all said and done that place looks very relaxing, one month stay there will get all the harmones levels to normal conditions.. :)

and where is our friend Scotty ?

thanks for the visual feast,

love,

Kris  :)

love conquers all..

you are right, kris.this private villa is away from the main

hotel,so we didn't see any other guests.

the design of the villa was basically balinese, but the owner used alot of his own style in the decoration.

a pleasure to hear from you, kris.

Paul,

I really like the shots of the buildings and materials used in Bali.  I have been a fan of their buildings for some time.  I plan on incorporating some of the ideas in our projects around here.  At the country place it will work very well as we will not be using A/C and have easy access to good palm tatching material.  I love their use of water as well.  If I remember right water is a very important element in the culture of Bali.

Thanks for all the great pictures and I love the shots of the food.

thanks don!i would be interested to see what you come up with for your projects!i don't think we stayed anywhere that had A/C & we were quite comfortable.

i'm not sure if i mentioned already the thatching material they use in bali is actually a grass, which if i'm not mistaken, can last for more than 20 years.

the balinese spices take it to a new level.you can see they are not too worried about the health dept.shutting them down.

This is like an Anthony Bourdain episode, only without the snarky commentary or the jug of home brew with a dead animal inside. "No Reservations" usually doesn't give the plants so much air time either.

I'm enjoying it, but this has to be the record for most photos in a single topic.
