we became friends with one of the groundskeepers.he

was one of the few folks i've met in bali who knows the local names of all the plants.here he is climbing on the roof to pick some plumeria flowers for enjula.

Paul,

Once again, you took a great trip with Enjulas. I really like the pic. with her leaning up against the bottle palm. Hmmm, nice curves! I made a trip there once before, so it all brings back mostly good memories. I did have one instance that was not very good, but all and all, we had a good time also. Thanks for sharing, did you go up to the north shore. Or did you past through (well I just forgot the town name, dah) the town in central Bali where they carve alot of wood and do art? Anyways, looks like you had another good trip.

Great pictures Paul.

Did you see any mature Salacca zalacca palm with fruits? Are they common in Bali's landscape? The picture of the fruits looks nice but I'd love to see the flesh inside (I planted a couple in the ground but never tasted the fruit, so I'm very curious about it and can't wait to taste a few). Someone said it tasted like a lichee (?)

I like very much the detailed articrafts from Bali and the gardens intimate atmosphere, but the food there must be awful  :P . I've tried a recommended Indonesian and balinese restaurant in Amsterdam once, but had to order a sandwich at the hotel later...Peanut flour and glued rice are not my favourite side dishes, ouch...

Where are the amazing beach pictures? and when are you gonna bring Enjula here to Recife, for a change?

The Balinese salakfruit is the best in the world says my mum(93)

It is very hard to find real good Indonesian food in Holland most of the restaurants serve a watered down version called "rijsttafel"(a dutch invention) which is basically a watered down version (taste wise) of the real stuff.

Balinese food is another thing that is hard to find and Padang food (this hails from the town of Padang in Sumatra where I lived as a child) is even more difficult to find.

The infamous peanut sauce is very popular with the Dutch kids who use it as a dip for their fave street food: "patates frites" instead of the old classic mayonnaise.

Paul, I've been looking forward to your photos, and they do not disappoint!  The pools and gardens are so serene, Bali looks like the perfect place to unwind.  All the stonework is quite amazing.  Looks like you made some friends, too, I like their colorful shirts. Thanks for the foodie pix, too! (And I see I'm not the only one who enjoys seeing the airport structures and all the big jets.)

Welcome back. :)

Man....those are awesome pictures. Another place that I would love to go.

That plumeria is huuuuuge. Are you sure that's not an oak or something with plumeria flowers??

Those foxtails look a lot better than mine, that's for sure.

Were you able to try any mangosteen fruit while you were there?
