Ceratozamia euryphyllidia germination

cycadjungle

Recommended Posts

For those of you who will be breeding Ceratozamia euryphyllidia, I had a great discovery this week. I have been assuming euryphyllidia seeds will take a good 10 months before they start to germinate because that is what C. miqueliana does, and euryphyllidia is in the miqueliana complex. These seeds were picked 5 months ago and they are already germinating. This is great news, and I hope more will germinate soon.
If you are not familiar with Ceratozamia euryphyllidia, it is an extremely rare species of cycad. As far as I know, seedlings have only been made once in cultivation, by Loran Whitelock. As soon as he made seedlings available, we purchased enough to have a good sized breeding colony. More people need to breed this super rare species. Even if I sell all the cycads at the nursery, I will keep my colony until at least 5 other people have a colony for future breeding.
