Not ovata - I see them at local box stores but never noticed the name. The next time I do, I'll check it for you.

That does indeed look like a crassula of some kind, maybe C. nudicaulis?

I have decided on crassula capitella var campfire as a viable ID on this one. After putting it out in the sun it shows a decidedly more compact growth pattern as well as the bright red color. The photo simply shows what a sun starved plant can look like.
