When we go to the supermarket, the first area I visit is the fruit section. My 10-year old Tochter (daughter) knows where the eyes and mouth of a dehusked coconut are situated. The eyes always have eyebrows and of course the mouth is where the sprout emerges from.

Thanks @Rickybobby for this info about the black bulge. Yes, I've seen cocos at the store with their sprout protruding. But never paid attention to the ones with protruding black "mouths".   By in my limited experience, the ones with the exposed sprouts never continued to grow. However, now I'm curious about the black mouth bulge cocos.

Generally, in the market I only check for the typical:

No cracks and a ton of water inside.

Upon arrival home, the last test has always been: does it float? If it does, it's good to go. If it doesn't: kaput. (no pun intended).

Here again, love your videos and wish you the best with your coconuts. That one in the video sure is huge.

You've got this down to a science.

Excuse the typos: huge thumbs tapping on the cell phone.

It's unfortunate that they have to wrap the coconuts in plastic. They already have natural protection

I was surprised to see them wrapped in plastic, we don't get them wrapped in plastic here. You're doing well with them Rob.

Thanks guys. I’m so passionate about this a lot of times the coconut germinated and the plastic actually stops the embryo and it dies and rots sp you need to get them. Before this happens
