Do you climb the Totem to get the fruit??

Mit the 18 foot ladder, Jahwohl.

I don't like it. Next time, something shorter. Aber, we learn as we go.

Are you going to try to pollinate the flowers when they open?

Yup. I have three species growing between the pots and the uhm, trunk. One is the undata (red shell, white interior), the other is costaricensis( red shell, red interior) and the last is megalathus(yellow outer, armed andvwhite interior).  I have a tupper where i plan to house and mix as much pollen as possible from all three species.

Employing a thin painters pencil brush, I intend to pollinate the flowers.  I'll keep you updated.

Bees are not nocturnal. At least not here. However, they took a liking to the 11 dragonfruit flowers blossoming. It is 7:50pm pst and the are at it!!!  We usually do not see bees after 6:30pm

Btw, I discarded the undatus cacti. They were flowering, but even at my best to inter-pollinate them, all of their 36 flowers died. However the Megalanthus produced two flowers and germinated nicely.

I have a megalanthus growing growing nicely on the tiki.

I also have costaricensis cacti growing as well. I am done with the undatus (red outside, white flesh)

Here is a pic of young fruit from the megalanthus. You can also see new buds beginning to grow.

(Btw) this pot is half and half Megalanthus(yellow prickly shell/white flesh)  and Costaricensis (red shell/red flesh).
