A look at Stan's Garden

Daryl

Recommended Posts

Finally found some time to post a few photos from our recent visit to Stan Walkley's in the Sunshine Coast hinterland in Queensland.

Stan has been a prominent Palm and Cycad nurseryman here for a very long time, as well as a PACSOA and IPS member for longer than any of us can remember. I'm sure quite a few of you have known or have met Stan over the decades.

We were fortunate enough to be invited over to see Stan's personal collection a few weeks ago, enjoying the setting in perfect Queensland winter sunshine...

Here are a few photos taken on the day

Obviously there are many more palms of note in this garden...but that's all for tonight due to my agonisingly slow Internet connection!  Let me know if you'd like to see more.

Magnificent garden.  To have the scale and discipline to not over plant the landscape is commendable.

Just gorgeous! Pouring rain here so perfect time to enjoy Stan's amazing garden with such excellent photos.

Thanks Daryl!

I have already copied the link to this topic and emailed it to others and suggest you all do the same.

Thanks for posting Daryl, what a magnificent place. With such a large property, it's almost harder to landscape effectively than a smaller suburban lot.

You guys must have been close to palm heaven that day.

Thanks so much for the photos, Daryl! I really like the way the garden is laid out, plenty of room to see the palms. Certain areas look like they will feel more dense as the palms head skyward, must be a very pleasant experience walking through it.

Got a pic of Stan and his favorite palm, by any chance? Trying to link the name to a face...

Kim, this is Stan in the blue shirt...Telling us about his dwarf Pritchardia...Satakentia also photo-bombing...:D  Excuse the photo quality, but the palmtalk server compresses the photos and they lose all their resolution...
