Another germination question, seems like that's all I've been posting lately.

Anyone had any success germing Dypsis marojejy/ coursii?

Being a high land plant, I'm guessing high temps aren't needed?

I'm thinking 12 to 25 degrees Celsius?

Yes, up high in a tin shed, but I'd like something more specific, I'm getting conflicting information.

Heat, no heat, just ambiant temps. I just need someone who has had good success on this stubborn seed to shed some insight :interesting:

So sounds like atleast sime heat so with all the different ways of providing heat ( heat mat , cable box , fridge ) wouldnt work also. Maybe someone soon with experience will chime in haha

I'm guessing seeing that they are a high altitude plant, that doesn't like extreme heat, the seed wouldn't like extreme heat? Marojejy national Park has summer temps of average minimum 19 days 25 celcius. Maybe some stratification may spur on germination?

I've germinated 50 very different palm species at the same temperature. Is there any palm that won't sprout with a little extra heat? The magic number for me is 28 Celsius. The only difference is that for higher altitude species I turn the heat off at night, which in summer may mean only a drop of 3-4 degrees Celsius.

Once germination starts, I remove the cooler-environment seeds from their incubation chamber!

My mate has just had great success germinating these, steps as follows

Broccoli box(polystyrene box) filled with 50/50 vermiculite perlite, the crucial point he made was the mix was on the drier side, seeds were buried not exposed, and box was placed in the shade. Temps were 22c night 28c day, no more. I will see if he can contribute to this thread.
