Hi Everyone.

I found this beautiful old Sabal minor yesterday at a garden center in a small Free State town.   It was the only one and they didn’t know what it was. They had a couple of other common cold hardy palms too. I got it for the bargain price of USD32. It is an adult plant as it is seeding.

I agree just me but my guess is 99 Percent of people who buy palms or from box stores probably will kill them. So for me up north anyway I feel like I’m the best hope or close enough.

That's a great deal for a Sabal minor of that size.  That's a very nice find. $32 is fantastic for a plant that takes years to reach that size.

Are Sabal minor common in gardens in your area? I wouldn't imagine they are, though I could be wrong. If they are rare in your area, that would just make it an even better find. Congratulations.

Sabal minor used to be available here in most nurseries in the 80’s. They are very hard to find now. Somehow one does not see big ones in gardens either.

I have six other ones that I managed to find from a specialist grower. They are much younger though. I’ll post a pic or two of the other ones.
