clavija species

I was intrigued by a clavija species I saw at Fairchild Botanical Gardens recently.  I live in Sarasota, Florida near the coast, borderline zone 9b/10a with no frost.  Ever.  Will this grow here, and which is the best species?  Anyone have any photos or advice to share?

My guess is it was Clavija domingensis. I have two in the ground here in SoCal that made it through their first winter.

Thanks, Len, I think you're right.  Pictures look the same as I remember.  It sounds like you think it would survive here?  Any ideas for seed sources?  Rare palm seeds doesn't have this one.  Thanks again.  Ana

No, I don’t know. Scott Cohen in FL is where I got mine years ago. They are an expensive plant.

Ana, I have both domingensis and longifolia.  Domengensis is clearly the way to go; the flowers on longifolia are teensy tiny.

Thanks so much, Marie!  Do you know anything about its cold hardiness?

Thanks, Marie.  We are borderline 9b/10a up here, but no frost and lots of canopy.  Hopefully it can do well.
