Random Palms Sprouting In Virginia!

PalmTreeDude

Recommended Posts

So I have random palms sprouting around my yard in Virginia now. I am thinking this one is a date palm since last year I spit a few date pits in the area I found this, under my banana trees, I'm not taking it out. Also i have random Sabals still coming up from me throwing "no good" seeds around the yard.

Definitely a Phoenix

Is there a way to tell at this size if it's a Phoenix?

It looks like one? :D

I'm crap with all of the technical terms, but that's a Phoenix.

What's the trait you guys are seeing that other palm seedlings don't have? I am just curious, I only assume it's a Phoenix because it's in the same spot where I spit date pits.

The tip and the sort of ribbing it has. Like I said I am no good with technical descriptions. You don’t have to assume it is a Phoenix - it IS a Phoenix. :D
