colocasia pink china overwinter in zone 7a

I have planted some Colocasia pink china here in zone 7a.  They claim to be cold hearty to zone 6.  I plan to simply leave them in the ground over the winter.   Has anyone overwintered pink china in the ground in zone 7a or colder.  Did you bury them in leaves or other mulch?  Thanks

I'm on the border of zones 7b/8a, which I know is warmer.  I am growing the typical Colocasia and Alocasia found in the local stores (I don't know the species).  They come up after every winter and some bloom each year.  A few of the tubers/trunks have even begun to emerge above the ground (barely).  I would recommend adding a few inches of mulch over them during winter and then remove the excess after the danger of frost has passed.  I've even placed unopened bags of mulch over the mounded mulch, but found that is not necessary here; it might help up where you are.  I've even had peace lilies come back.
