I have one in my shopping cart as we speak. Buy one that is at least 15 gallons if you want to plant in the ground next year. Has to be planted in a Protected area with wind protection. The one in the picture is right next to a heated sunroom so it gets extra heat in winter. The owner also uses rope lighting on the trunk top to bottom all year long so that gives it an extra edge too. He swears the rope lighting gives him many more leaves a year than without it. My self I don't use rope lighting so I don't have one anymore. But mine did last six years in the ground as a 15 gallon but only put out three leaves a year. Chester B 3,246 Report post Posted July 16, 2019 Finding a 15 gallon without driving down to CA will be a problem. I have a spot that would be good once I cut down a frickin Norway maple that's growing into my house. My issue is wind as I live in a very windy spot, especially in winter.
