Cycas taitungensis germination

Hello,

I have never germinated a Cycas before and have a lot of questions. Would they germinate halfway buried in coco coir in a plastic box with a lid on a heating mat (soil temperature on the surface constant 87-89 Fahrenheit, likely a bit higher for the soil itself)? I could also put them outside in a dark box which surely gets hotter than that in the day (but our summers aren't that consistent although I am already in one of the warmest regions of Germany:mellow: + I read that cycas germination can be rather slow and therefore it can be October or later when they eventually germinate (then it will be definitely cool/cold outside)).  Should I give them temperature variation (for example heating mat 14 h on per day)? Should I soak them 24/36/48 hours? And where is the "point" on the seed where the root emerges?

Fill a tray full of damp perlite, toss them on top and set in a warm place.  Pretty simple for these.

That is pretty much what I did with mine.  buried the seed 1/2 way down in the medium on it's flat side and kept it damp and warm(Texas summer).   @TexasColdHardyPalms is the pro here and he does this all the time so you cannot go wrong.
