Tropical Tree ID

I just brought this tropical tree sapling from my dad’s old house, and it was likely mine several years ago, but I cannot tell what it is.  I initially thought and hoped Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) as I had a few of these and they are expensive,but the leaves, emerging leaves and stems do not look right for Kratom.  Also a small specimen of the water hogging Kratom tree would never survive a year and a half without irrigation here, as this tree obviously did.

It looks like an avocado tree.

El Oasis - beach garden, distinct wet/dry season ,year round 20-38c

Las Heliconias - jungle garden ,800m elevation,150+ inches rainfall, year round 15-28c

Yes, I concur.  Thank you for the information Scott.

My dad planted some avacodo pits, so I am sure that’s it.  I guess that would also explain the two mango saplings I now have.
