Let's talk about Dypsis Carlsmithii seedlings

Recommended Posts

My three are in the seedling stage.

Are these growing well (for seedlings)?

They made it through our winter.  It seems they like ample waterings.

I acquired these from Floribunda back in November of 2018.

Interesting that the second to the last picture shows almost all the right side leaflets browned out, while the left side of the rachis is green as can be.

These are unpredictable in their growth imo. They have been pretty slow for me (and for others I've talked to), but have grown extremely well for others, including my next door neighbor. Some just take off.  I think that ample water is key--as in lots of it.

Mine brown tip all the time even with copious amounts of water. I wonder if they’re sensitive to mineral salts in tap water because mine brown tip during the dry season when irrigation is turned on in place of rain. I get maybe two leaves per year on each of mine.

More water the better.

Pray for good luck.

The pot looks a bit on the large size.
