So I was checking up on my plants when I noticed one of my C. macrocarpa's showing a variegation or perhaps a deficiency. Any thoughts

Looks like something got tweaked in leaf formation for that one leaf.

(I've grown hundreds of these things.)

Let us know how the next leaf grows!

Nah, there's some deformation there...something happened.  Fungus?  See what the next leaf looks like...in about 6 months! :D

Or for a smaller-scale 'version' with a new red leaf, here's my Actinokentia divaricata today. It spent the winter outside, with overhead protection, here in interior NorCal.

You can see that as the leaflets unfolded the damage was on a specific portion of the spear with the yellow/green portion narrower than the rest of the leaflets.  Damage of some sort it is clear.  If not sunburned as Gonzer has suggested, there are plenty of other things to look at, including insects, cold damage, blunt trauma to the spear before it opened, bug it doesn't look nutritional to me.  Plenty of others have more experience with nutritional deficiencies and can advise better than I can though.  It looks like it could very well be isolated to this one new spear opening, but worth determining what to avoid so you don't repeat it.
