Germinating Foxtail Seeds

Recommended Posts

I would like to try germinating a few foxtail (Wodyetia) seeds. I have read conflicting opinions on whether it is necessary to remove the fruit pulp since it might contain germination inhibitors. Does anyone have any advice on germinating these beautiful palms? Thank you.

Just me. The fruit was off. cleaned. Soaked for a day then.  Back then I did baggy method with 90f. Only because my planting season is indoors then move to out. One of my prized palms as well they do so well indoors for me during the winter

I have been keeping an eye out for ripe seed lately here locally.  Just found a tree loaded with green, yellow and orange fruit, so I picked this orange one.   Should this have a good shot at germinating if I clean off the skin, soak and plant?

Gorgeous palms, to be sure.

I read they are very high maintenance palms in order to keep that beautiful appearance.

Yes Alex, they tend to get a bit malnourished and look under watered here in the Orlando area.
