The only reason I started this topic is because a spear emerged and two more after it.   I left it outside "cali winter" and come February (no freeze, no snow, just constant cool temps) it killed it.

I think it was because it was dehusked. It was on the same wall as the rescued coco (which had its husk intact). Or maybe just nature. I bet many coco seedlings die in habitat and we never know about em. Survival of the fittest?

Here's the pic of the rescued big box store coco which survived our past winter.
