Howea forsteriana trunking?

Recommended Posts

What is happening here? Can it be? Does my tallest Howea forsteriana start trunking? He is about 12 years old.  A year ago, I separated them 3 to 1 pot.  Since then it has strengthened and grown faster than ever.

Looks like its trunking. Lovely well grown palm. They are very slow growing. I got mine as a germinated seed in 2004. It is planted deep in my jungle and finally has 1/2 meter of trunk. I've always loved this species even though it is not suited for my hot sweltering summers. But in the jungle temps stay 10-15 degrees F cooler in summer.
