Chamaedorea klotzschiana 1g seedlings x4

Recommended Posts

This tall, solitary Chamaedorea is native to rainforests of Mexico. It can reach up to 12' tall with a prominently ringed 1" diameter stem and green crownshaft. What immediately drew me to this elegant beauty was its crown of puckered leaves. It grows very well in SFL but my research indicates this species also does well in CA. I bought one female from Jeff Searle years ago and planted her in my backyard jungle where she has grown but produces crops of infertile seeds because I could not find a male palm. Over a year ago I germinated seeds of this species in hope of growing both sexes. After I set aside the plants I intend to keep, I have four that need new homes. I am offering two options for buyers.

Seedlings are currently in 1g pots. They range between 12-14" tall and 14-15" tall and are going pinnate.

OPTION 1 - Two Lots of two palms each

Price per palm = $12.00 ($24.00 per Lot)

OPTION 2 - One Lot of four palms

Price per palm = $10.00 ($40.00 per Lot)

Shipping = $12.00 for both Options. Palms will be sent without soil and pots and roots wrapped in damp orchid moss, clear wrap and foil.

Payment via Paypal

No shipping overseas. No shipping to HI.

Please PM me if you are interested.

      I have a gigantic, potted Zamia picta/variegata with extreme variegation that I got from Christian Faulkner as a tiny seedling 9-10 years ago. This species of Zamia is the only naturally variegated one. It is now an adult female taller than I am that produced seeds earlier this year. I assumed the seeds were infertile but did not notice that I had a male potted Zamia hybrid (loddigesii? x ??) sitting right next to it that I'd bought at a Palm Beach sale some years back. Lo, about a month ago I noticed that tiny variegated Zamia seedlings were popping up next to my mother cycad. I potted up 8 of them to find a new home and am selling them as a lot. See summary below
      Zamia picta/variegata x Zamia hybrid (loddigesii? x ??): Eight 1-leaf Seedlings @ $3.00 each = $24.00
      Shipping via Priority Mail = $8.00     No shipping to HI. No shipping outside of US
      TOTAL = $32.00
      Payment via Paypal. PM me if you are interested.

      Seedlings for sale. All are developing variegation like the mother.

      Mother: Zamia picta/variegata. Note intense variegation and size of plant.

      Father: Zamia hybrid (loddigesii? x ??)

      I am selling as a lot 10 Ptychosperma elegans seedlings from my double in my back yard jungle. They are currently in 4" pots. P. elegans is native to Australia. It is planted quite often in SE FL but is not common in SWFL although making inroads in local plantings. It is a solitary palm with a slim trunk and small crown of arching leaves. It is hardy in zones 10/11 and manageable in large indoor spaces. Photos 1-5 are of seedlings for sale; photos 6-7 are of my mother palms.
      Ptychosperma elegans: 10 bifid seedlings = $15.00 for the lot.
      Shipping = $8.00  Seedlings will be sent via Priority Mail without pots and soil, with roots wrapped in damp orchid moss, clear wrap and foil.
      TOTAL = $23.00

      For sale are my only two strap leaf seedlings I germinated from my mother palm. Coccothrinax 'Azul' is native to Cuba and is a conundrum: is it an unidentified species or a variation of C. macroglossa? It is named for the silver-blue color of its leaves, which are also silver-white below. I bought my mother palm as a 1g in late 2005 and can testify this palm is very slow growing. It is also very sporadic in flowering and setting seeds, usually only a small handful if any at all. Seedlings for sale are 2-3 years old, the last time my mother palm set seeds. They are still strap leafed and green - the silver-blue wax shows up later. I have no idea when my mother palm will set seeds in the future. Even 1-1/2 years later Hurricane Irma may be playing havoc with palm reproduction here. I am selling both seedlings together. Photos 1- 4 are of seedlings for sale. Photos 5-6 are of my mother palm.
      Coccothrinax Azul: Two (2) strap leaf seedlings = $15.00
      Shipping = $8.00 via Priority Mail. Sent without pots & soil with roots wrapped in damp orchid moss, clear wrap and foil.
      TOTAL = $23.00
