Any idea what this brown stain is from? Seems to originate from an ooze coming from the crownshaft... The palm otherwise seems healthy.

Haven't seen any signs of ambrosia beetle or other borer. After some more research it appears to be bleeding symptoms from Thielaviopsis trunk rot..

I haven't read up on Thielaviopsis, but presume you will try treating with a fungicide?  Bummer to have this with a nice size specimen like yours.

From my reading there is no cure.

I gotta admit the cabadae is one hassle free palm.   Ive got one that i prolly havent ever watered.   Literally runnin on nature from transplant.

Could your issue be from overwatering?   Is it on a irrigation system?

Thanks all. The palm belongs to my neighbor who was attempting to sell it. He will now hold on to it and see what happens to it over time.

Irrigation is drip. Not sure of cause but my guess is Hurricane Irma ripped a frond or two off and/or caused damage/wound/some form of stress and then some time thereafter is when the palm contracted the rot.
