Chill in the Southeast

Recommended Posts

Hombre de Palmas

Chilly here in Port Saint Lucie this morning 47.1° at 6:45 this morning though it has slowly recovered to 62° by 10:30 . It appears the entire Southeast has succumbed to the chill, shame that.  After such a long warm spell I'm sure lots of plants were pretty far along due to the unseasonably warm weather of late.

Here is a nice weather site I stumbled onto that might be a helpful addition to other resources as it features the ECMWF and some other useful tools.

First day of Spring and I had 39F with a touch of ice on the roof of my car!

Cant complain though. Gorgeous days and everything is so lush and green. It wont be long before the brutal heat kicks in.

Bottomed out here at 50.3° this morning, a little cool, but better than the 44° the NWS was forecasting a couple days ago. They are saying 48° tonight. The good thing at this time of the year is the sun angle, which quickly warms the day up.
My Heliconia psittacorum might be grumpy for a day or two, but other than my germinating processes, the landscape takes it in stride. My Brazilian Redcloaks seem to like it better than the heat of the summer. They are blooming like mad, and the leaves are a rich, deep green.

We have the next 2 days where the low is half that of the high maybe lower then it's a true spring warm up. Not out of the woods officially til early April.
