Variegated Agave ID

The agave in the photos came from a bulbil I harvested from an unknown solid green flowering medium sized agave I had in my yard. Unlike its solid green siblings this bulbil was variegated green & yellow so I potted it up. A couple years later it has grown to be one-half solid green and one-half variegated. Its leaves arch, are a more rubbery rather than rigid, scalloped and have spines that are a bit more user friendly than in most agaves. It is about 20-24" diameter. It is a very attractive plant. Can anyone tell me what species this guy is?

Yep, I agree.  It's a variant of desmettiana, I've never seen one with that dramatic of a variegation!  I have several, some have more spikes along the sides of the leaves, some are completely smooth.  I have one that is a consistent green-yellow variegation, and two that are much more yellow on 1/2 of the plant.  The below photo is yellow-edged on the side away from the camera and almost completely yellow on the top of the leaves on the side towards the camera.

If you plant that one you should end up with offsets in a few months.  I'll buy a couple from you!  :D

Variegation is so varied on these. I pulled pups from a spent flower stalk. Half were fully green and there were some that were fully yellow, and most were somewhere in between to match the variegation on the flower stalk. So far, the variegation on the yellow ones seems to be holding.
