Very Tall Coconut Palm: Loxahatchee, Florida

So I must have seen this palm for the last 20 years, but never thought about it until a few weeks ago.  It's located at the farm next door to me.  Huge fatty base, it towers over every other tree nearby- Roystonia, Washingtonia, Taxodium, Pinus, etc.   There is distorted perspective because some of the trees are closer, making them appear taller, yet the coconut still towers.  It is in line with the house and secondary house in the last pic.  Figure 2 stores plus roof peak...you're looking at at least 30 ft ~ 9m on the roof height of the main house on the right.  The peak on the secondary structure is probably in the 24 ft ~ 7 m range.

That is certainly a tall and thick Cocos nucifera! It is cool that it is west in Loxahatchee but I am constantly amazed at what grows out there of the ultra cold sensitive variety. As to the variety of this palm, I remember seeing a Panama Tall was was similarly thick and tall (at least that is what the owner believed it to be). Thank you.

Wow! That trunk reminded me of the huge C. nucifera (RIP) in the Salton Sea, CA which was chopped down by the new home owner....
