Transplant large palms from the ground

Marius

Recommended Posts

Good day everyone.

I can buy a number of big palms that are in the ground. It’s difficult to decide which ones, as I’m not sure which ones will transplant well.

There are various sizes and numerous species. See pics

On trenching:  is there a preferred season to do it?  I was thinking of doing it now in late summer early autumn and leave them with trenches for the winter and then to move them in the spring to give them the whole next summer to get established.

Any thoughts or inputs will be appreciated.

There are Trithinax, a big bush Jubaeopsis, large Syagrus (looks like picrophylla), What I think is Pseudophoenix sargentii etc

Please let me know which ones are a no go to transplant.
