Rain before a freeze advice

Okay, so I’m torn on what to do. Tonight we could hit freezing or below again. But it’s also raining. I’d like to protect a few palms. Do I throw frost cloth on them? I’m thinking it’ll get wet. Wet means weight on fronds etc. I also anticipate frost or ice as a possibility. What would you do?

I would wrap them with a blanket or whatever you like to use, I use rolls of insulation from Lowe’s. Then cover them with a tarp to keep the insulation dry. I’ve kept my foxtails alive that way. If it’s already raining it’s going to be difficult putting the blanket on without it getting wet though.

If you can wrap the fronds up like in this pic do so with frost cloth or burlap.  Then put a plastic garbage bag over top.  Take off garbage bag before any sun hits it.  sun + plastic = fried

Well call me a wimp but I’m going to just leave them. Crossing my fingers after tomorrow this is all behind us. They’re all damaged from a week long freeze in January. Royal is basically defoliated.

I got that last winter. Typically a freeze is almost always a dry, low dew point event. Well it dumped rain and then cleared off to the upper 20s.... Stuff.was.messed.up.  Took damage I haven't seen in years.

Here's an idea although too late for tonight, https://www.amazon.com/Lasko-100-MyHeat-Personal-Heater/dp/B003XDTWN2/ref=sr_1_5?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1550893334&sr=1-5&keywords=personal+heater I've got one of these, and I will put large plastic sheeting over a palm and stick this 200W heater inside. It's not hot enough to cook it and is enough heat to keep it above freezing. Plus you can do several of them on one 15A or 20A circuit.

Big patio heaters seem to work, but not sure how effective they are.
